Extensive Review of Landal Puur Exloo
This summer holiday I spent a midweek with my family at Landal Puur Exloo. This holiday park is located at the nature reserve "De Hondsrug", near the town of Exloo. We stayed in the 10-person 10ELW, a beautiful holiday home with 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and a sauna area.

1. General impression of Landal Puur Exloo
Landal Puur Exloo opened in 2020, this new Landal holiday park consists of 180 holiday homes. Immediately upon arrival at the large car park, the park makes an impression, due to the natural surroundings and modern appearance. What beautiful holiday homes this holiday park has. What stands out is the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere that the park exudes. This is partly due to the fact that the park was built in the existing forest and the beautiful design of the accommodations.
The park exudes luxury and comfort, without losing its connection with nature. The plots are spacious, so that you have plenty of space around the accommodation for all kinds of games. This is where “The Game Box” comes in handy, more about this later. The greenery still gives you a sense of privacy, even when the park is fully occupied.
It is striking that Landal Puur Exloo does not have a reception, but a “Guest House”. You don't have to pick up a key, but you get access to your holiday home via a code that you enter at the front door of the holiday home. Still, it was not an impersonal experience, on the day of arrival, park hosts from Landal came to the door to ask if everything was to your liking. In addition, there was a nice welcome gift ready in the house (package with regional products such as cheese and dried sausage) and there was a vase with fresh flowers. Actually quite nice this way, no waiting times at the reception etc….

2. Accommodations at Landal Puur Exloo
When we drive onto the parking lot of Landal Puur Exloo, we can already see the beautiful thatched villas. The villas are without a doubt one of the highlights of this holiday park. The architecture of the holiday homes is modern and sleek, with the use of natural materials such as wood and stone that fit in perfectly with the surroundings. The thatched villas often have a sauna and a rain shower. We stayed in a 10-person ELW (extra luxury wellness) thatched villa.
The thatched holiday homes we stayed in have three floors with the living room and kitchen on the first floor. Through the 2 patio doors you enter a balcony, from here you have a beautiful view over the park. The sliding doors and windows of our home were equipped with (sliding) mosquito nets. Very pleasant during the warm days! It was very warm outside during our holiday, but it was very pleasant and even cool in the home / bedrooms. On this floor there is also 1 bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom. There is also a separate toilet in the hallway.
On the ground floor there are 2 bedrooms with double beds. Both bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom with shower. In addition, the beautiful wellness area can be found on the ground floor. In this area, a comfortable sitting area has been set up next to the sauna. There is also a walk-in shower room with 2 showers, a sun shower, a rain shower and a large bubble bath. How luxurious do you want it! There is also a separate toilet and a cupboard with a washer-dryer combination.
On the second floor you will find a bedroom with 2 single beds, a box bed, a bathroom and a separate toilet. A nice detail are the 2 hinged shutters in the hallway, when you open them you look down into the living room.
These thatched houses are holiday homes that were built in the first phase.
The construction of the holiday homes at Landal Puur Exloo is now almost complete. The second phase of construction consists of holiday homes with tiled roofs and solar panels. These homes often have an outdoor kitchen, a covered heated terrace and sometimes even an outdoor pool.
Features that all villas at Puur Exloo share are the luxurious furnishings, with modern kitchens, spacious living rooms and comfortable bedrooms. The interior is tasteful and cozy and has been finished with an eye for detail. For the location of the different types of holiday homes, it is best to take a look at the Landal PUUR Exloo map. All in all, the holiday villas are in great shape!

3. Swimming pool at Landal Puur Exloo
Landal Puur Exloo does not have its own swimming pool, as a guest you can use the swimming pool at Fletcher Wellness-Hotel "De Hunzebergen". The Fletcher Hotel is centrally located on the edge of PUUR Exloo, next to the large car park. The hotel has a beautiful wellness and swimming area that guests of the holiday park can use for free. The swimming pool has a beautiful 25-metre pool with a small paddling pool. More than enough to relax and swim a few laps.

4. Child-friendliness of holiday park Landal Puur Exloo
Landal Puur Exloo is ideally suited for a fun family holiday. To start with, every holiday home has a “The Game Box”. The Game Box is a box with a unique collection of sports and game materials. Play a game of tennis or badminton, go table tennis or challenge each other to a game of mini golf or kubb.
Another great advantage of Landal Puur Exloo is that a large part of the holiday park is car-free. This allows children to play safely, without you as a parent having to worry about traffic.
Landal Puur Exloo has two playgrounds: a little playground for the little guests and a regular playground. Next to the little playground is a large air trampoline, my daughter is always a big fan of this. In addition to a number of climbing frames, a slide and a cable car, the playground also has a water play frame. Playing around with water and sand, wonderful!
For the slightly older children there is a challenging pump track. Here you can have a great time with your mountain bike, cross bike, skateboard or rollerblades. Between the pump track and the playgrounds is the mini golf course. This is where “The Game Box” comes in handy again. The box contains several golf clubs and balls, so you can play a game of mini golf for free. How great is that!

5. Location of Landal Puur Exloo
The location of Landal Puur Exloo, right on the edge of the Unesco World Heritage De Hondsrug, is beautiful. The area consists of forests interspersed with heathlands and meadows. Perfect for a nice walk or bike ride. A nice walking route to walk with your family is the “Sabeltandtijger Route”. From Landal Puur Exloo you can walk straight into nature, right next to the holiday park. Signs will lead you to the Sabeltandtijger route.
This short walk of 2.5 km is fun to do with children. Along the way you will come across numerous climbing and clambering equipment. Landal PUUR Exloo borders the Hondsrug, this nature reserve has a Unesco World Heritage title. The Hondsrug UNESCO Global Geopark is a unique nature reserve. The Ice Age has left its mark here. The area is slightly undulating, consists of forests, heathlands and grasslands and there are dolmens to be found.
There are several small villages with nice shops nearby. Exloo itself is a charming village with a rich history and various sights, such as the famous dolmens and the Schaapskooi Exloo. The village also has various eateries (restaurant, pizzeria and snack bar), a Spar supermarket and shops. Exloo is also home to Landwinkel Exloo, located on the free-range chicken farm of Thale and Marlous Hulshof. There is an egg vending machine on the farm and you can buy many regional products in the shop.
There are also numerous day trip options, such as a visit to Kabouterland Exloo, Wildland Emmen and Plopsa Indoor Coevorden. In addition, there are 3 outdoor swimming pools around Landal Puur Exloo, such as "Swimming pool de Leewal", ideal for a warm summer day.

6. Facilities at Landal Puur Exloo
The beautiful holiday villas are the biggest attraction of Landal Puur Exloo. Earlier in this review, we already mentioned that you can use the swimming pool at the Fletcher Hotel. There are also 2 playgrounds, an air trampoline, mini-golf course, tennis court and pump track. In addition, "The Game Box" provides plenty of entertainment. Landal Puur Exloo also has an outdoor fitness area and a beach volleyball court. All in all, everything is in order!

7. Eating places at Landal Puur Exloo
Landal Puur Exloo does not have its own restaurant. If you want a bite to eat, you can go to the restaurant in the hotel. In Restaurant De Hunzebergen you can enjoy various regional and seasonal dishes. You can also sit down for breakfast or lunch here and when the weather is nice, you can of course do that on the terrace.
You can also make use of 'Room Service' to your front door. From a Burgundian food sharing dinner to a luxury breakfast, a champagne drink or a tapas evening or luxury dinner. You can easily order this via the app and it will be delivered to the door of your villa.

Final conclusion
What a fantastic place Landal PUUR Exloo is! This luxurious, exclusive park has a beautiful location in Drenthe. The holiday villas not only look beautiful, they are also very luxurious and comfortable! The unique “The Game Box” in each holiday home ensures many fun moments together with the family. You can play mini golf, tennis, badminton, beach volleyball and much more for free.
Unlike many other Landal holiday parks, holiday park PUUR Exloo does not have an activity programme (no Bollo either). But there are plenty of facilities for children. In addition, you can use various facilities in the adjacent Fletcher Wellness-Hotel “De Hunzebergen”, such as: swimming pool, wellness, bowling and the restaurant.
All fine, but you don't even need these things, with such a great environment. The forests, heathlands, day trip options, many places to eat or drink something and the surrounding villages (Exloo, Odoorn and Valthe) ensure that you don't have to be bored.
In short, we can recommend Landal PUUR Exloo without hesitation. Landal PUUR Exloo is luxurious, spacious but feels small-scale at the same time. A holiday park to enjoy with the whole family!
