The first weekend of October we travelled with our family to EuroParcs De Zanding in Otterlo. EuroParcs De Zanding is a holiday park located right next to National Park De Hoge Veluwe. We stayed in a 6-person villa type Strandvilla 6 ST19. This villa has a beautiful location on the recreational lake. General impression of EuroParcs De Zanding
After picking up the kids from school, we leave for EuroParcs holiday park De Zanding. After a short trip on the highway, we shoot off the highway just past Apeldoorn onto the Veluwe. You immediately end up in a beautiful area, surrounded by forests and heathlands.
When we arrive at the holiday park after about 20 minutes, the recreational lake with beach and playground equipment immediately catches the eye. An air trampoline, very large climbing frame made of ropes, various playground equipment, it all looks well cared for and maintained. We pick up the key to our holiday home at the reception: our wonderful weekend can begin!
When we drive across the park towards our holiday villa, it is noticeable that the holiday park has many different types of accommodations. We pass modern chalets, a field of (static) caravans, large modern holiday homes and modern lodges. When I later take a closer look at the EuroParcs De Zanding website, it appears that the holiday park offers more than 50 different types of accommodations! The road to our holiday home on the recreational lake goes over 2 bridges and takes a few minutes. It is noticeable that some accommodations are not for rent. Nothing wrong with that otherwise.

2. Accommodations at EuroParcs De Zanding
As previously stated, we stayed in a holiday villa type Strandvilla 6. These are located at the recreational lake of EuroParcs De Zanding. There are 2 recreational lakes next to each other at this park. The holiday villas are located at one lake, and you can also sail on this lake with a sub. The playground equipment is located at the other lake. You can swim and play on the beach in this lake during the warmer months.
The holiday villa looks very neat from the outside, with a beautifully landscaped garden. Ok, the name "Strandvilla" may not be entirely accurate, there is no sand to be seen anywhere. The gardens of these homes are demarcated with wood and are partly surrounded by reed beds. Or is this because of the high water level? You can fish perfectly well from the garden. Perhaps because the homes overlook the beach around the swimming lake?
Everything is also fine on the inside. Here and there some painting could be done, but generally it is very good. The accommodation has a spacious living room with kitchen. The living room has 2 x 2 French doors, lovely during the warmer summer months. During our stay it was around 14 degrees outside and very sunny, so we could keep these doors open during the day. Through the large glass front at the back you have a beautiful view over the lake.
Our beach villa has 1 bedroom downstairs with a double bed. Through a sliding door you enter the adjacent bathroom with shower, wonderful! Upstairs the villa has 3 more bedrooms. Two bedrooms with 2 single beds and a bedroom with 3 single beds. Strange, this is a 6-person holiday home after all? Maybe this house is owned by people who sometimes travel to this holiday park with more people? Anyway, it doesn't matter. Everything else looks fine, and it is also clean. There is also a bathroom on the first floor with a shower and toilet. From the window you have a beautiful view of the recreational lake.
When we come back from a walk in the park in the evening, there is a lot of commotion around our house. What turns out: 2 gigantic groups of birds (swallows?) fly above the lake and land in the reeds next to our holiday home. This appears to be a daily recurring scene, during sunset. Beautiful sight, that flock of birds flying over the water. This spectacle takes about 10 - 15 minutes every evening.
Referring to the walk through the holiday park: there are so many different types of accommodations at EuroParcs De Zanding. Large, small, luxurious, simple, there is a suitable accommodation for every type of holidaymaker. For example, we came across cozy tiny houses that were located in a circle, with a fireplace or a hot tub inside. There are also large, luxurious holiday homes to book, group accommodations, luxury lodges, holiday homes with a roof terrace, too many to list. We have tried to record as many accommodations as possible, watch the accommodations in the video above. In short, there is a suitable accommodation at EuroParcs De Zanding for everyone. 3. The swimming pool of EuroParcs De Zanding
EuroParcs de Zanding has a small indoor pool, with an adjacent wellness area. The pool looks very neat, as if it was recently opened. The changing rooms were also very clean. The small pool is well suited for swimming laps. Children can also splash around and romp around. For small children there is also a shallow toddler pool, where they can splash around.
Although the indoor pool offers sufficient possibilities, this pool is on the small side during busy periods. Fortunately, during the warm summer months there is also the recreational lake, where you can swim. The lake is surrounded by a sandy beach, and offers a wonderful alternative to the indoor pool, especially if you want to enjoy the fresh air.

4. Child-friendliness of holiday park EuroParcs De Zanding
EuroParcs De Zanding has a beautifully landscaped multifunctional playing field. Here, children can play a game of football or basketball, for example. There are also 2 table tennis tables next to the swimming pool.
But anyway, the biggest attraction for children is the large swimming lake with various play equipment around it. This is a really wonderful place for children. Have fun playing in the sand and water, or cool off in the lake. On the large field next to the lake there are swings, climbing frames, water play equipment and an air trampoline. The lake and the field around it are very cosy. Right next to the lake is restaurant "De Zanding". This restaurant also has a cosy outdoor terrace, from where you have a good view over the lake and the play equipment.
In addition, the Funclub is located on this field next to the lake. The entertainment team provides a varied programme from the Funclub during the school holidays. We stayed at EuroParcs De Zanding during a weekend, outside the school holidays, so I cannot provide any further information about this.

5. Location of EuroParcs De Zanding
EuroParcs De Zanding is located in the village of Otterlo, on the edge of De Hoge Veluwe National Park. The area around EuroParcs De Zanding is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. The location is one of the park's greatest assets. You have direct access to the beautiful Veluwe forests, heathlands and sand drifts. This makes the holiday park an ideal base for hiking and cycling enthusiasts. Our holiday villa was on the edge of the park, we walked straight onto the sand drift. We had a lovely walk towards the gates of the Hoge Veluwe National Park.
Just outside Otterlo lies one of the entrances to this beautiful nature reserve. Definitely recommended. In the Hoge Veluwe National Park you can take long walks across the vast heathland, or a bike ride along the picturesque forest paths. For art lovers, a visit to the Kröller-Müller Museum is an absolute must. This museum, located in the national park, houses an impressive collection of modern art, including many works by Vincent van Gogh.
The location of EuroParcs De Zanding is also perfect for families. There are many day trips possible in the area, such as a visit to Burgers' Zoo in Arnhem or the Dutch Open Air Museum. For those who love adventure, there are also numerous outdoor activities such as climbing, mountain biking or horse riding.
In short, the location of the holiday park ensures that you can not only enjoy peace and nature, but also cultural, adventurous excursions and day trips. This is what makes EuroParcs De Zanding a versatile holiday destination.

6. Facilities at EuroParcs De Zanding
EuroParcs De Zanding offers more than enough facilities, which contributes to the versatility of the park. Whether you want to relax or be active, the park has something for everyone. Here is an overview of some of the most important facilities:
- Recreational lake and beach: As mentioned earlier, the park has a recreational lake with a sandy beach. This is a wonderful place to enjoy the water and the sun during the summer days. Children can play here with sand, water and the various play equipment.
- Indoor swimming pool: For those who prefer to swim indoors, the small indoor swimming pool offers a solution.
- Wellness facilities: The wellness area is located in a separate area next to the swimming pool. Here you will find a Finnish sauna, infrared cabin, Turkish steam bath, heated relaxation benches and a sunbed.
- Bicycle rental: What better way to explore the beautiful surroundings of De Veluwe than by bike? At the reception of EuroParcs De Zanding you can rent regular bikes, children's bikes and e-bikes.
- Multifunctional playing field: You can play football, basketball or tennis on this field.
- Parkshop: At EuroParcs De Zanding there is a small park shop, right next to the reception. Here you can buy fresh bread rolls and small groceries. The range is not very extensive. This is not necessary, because there is a Spar supermarket in Otterlo. You can walk there in no time.
- Animation program: As mentioned before, EuroParcs De Zanding offers an animation program for children during school holidays.
- Escape Box "Pyramid": Step into the shoes of an adventurous archaeologist and solve challenging riddles and secrets of the "City of Ra". You can reserve the Escape Box at the reception. We played the family edition and really enjoyed it. You download an app that guides you through the game. You use the pyramid to solve the puzzles. Very nicely set up, although the intermediate videos are sometimes a bit long-winded. We had a nice family evening.
- Snack bar: During the high season, the snack bar is open. Here you can go for fries, snacks and ice cream.
- Restaurant De Zanding: At restaurant De Zanding you can go for a refreshing drink, an extensive lunch or a dinner. It is also possible to pick up fries and snacks at the restaurant when the snack bar is closed.
- Sports café "Tikkie trug": In this sports café you can watch live sports events (football, formula 1 etc.) on a big screen. You can also play darts or table football with friends and family while enjoying a drink.
With these facilities, the park offers a complete holiday experience, where playing, relaxing and "family time" are central.

7. Eating places at EuroParcs De Zanding
In "Restaurant de Zanding" at holiday park EuroParcs De Zanding you can enjoy an extensive lunch or dinner. The weekend we stayed at EuroParcs De Zanding the restaurant had a nice promotion: a 3-course Italian dinner for 20 euros per person. For children it was a 2-course dinner for 9 euros. Outside the main season it is also possible to pick up fries and snacks. It is also possible to pick up meals. The restaurant has a terrace with a view of the recreational lake.
During the main season the snack bar is open. There is plenty of space here to enjoy your easy meal inside or outside.
Although the offer at the park itself is fine, there are also numerous restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity in Otterlo that are worth a visit. are to explore. The restaurants in Otterlo are just a few minutes walk from EuroParcs De Zanding. So there are plenty of options for when you don't feel like cooking.

Final conclusion of our review of EuroParcs De Zanding
EuroParcs De Zanding is a wonderful holiday park to spend your holiday. The park offers a perfect balance between relaxation, family activities and nature. The recreational lake with play equipment is a wonderful place for children to play. Children can really enjoy themselves here for hours.
In addition, the location of the park is great. The park is situated in a beautiful location on the edge of the Hoge Veluwe National Park. This makes it an ideal base for nature lovers. You can walk and cycle straight from EuroParcs De Zanding into the nature of the Veluwe.
The facilities at EuroParcs de Zanding are also excellent, with a swimming pool, recreational lake, wellness and play areas. There is more than enough to do for families, thanks to the child-friendly design of the park.
The accommodations at EuroParcs de Zanding are also modern and comfortable. There is suitable accommodation for everyone, thanks to the more than 50 different types of holiday homes. We stayed in a beach villa. Don't get me wrong, this was a beautiful holiday home with a lovely location on the water. But after we had explored the park well this weekend, we came to the conclusion that there are many more beautiful holiday homes to book at EuroParcs De Zanding. If we had realised this better, we might have chosen a different home after all. Anyway, this is something for a next holiday at EuroParcs de Zanding.
